Authentic Handcrafted Zellige Tiles
Our Zellige tiles are handmade by specialist craftsmen at our workshops in Tangier. This traditional tile is made from raw, light-coloured unrefined clay sourced from the from the Fez region. This natural soil material is kneaded with water, shaped by hand and then sun-dried.
After a first firing, the biscuit - called Bejmat - is glazed, tile by tile, in a wide variety of colours and transparent shades. The final stage of production is the cutting of the glazed Bejmat into tiles of many shapes and sizes.
This intricate process ensures that each Zellige tile, with its subtle imperfections, brings unique character and craftsmanship to any design.
Each tile of Zellige is a unique piece.
